Underwriter, Industry Practices

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences. Biochemistry, Engineering, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• 4–8 years of relevant experience in Casualty and/or Financial Lines underwriting or broking; experience in risk analysis is preferred; candidates with relevant working experience and transferrable skills will also be considered
• Mature, independent, self-motivated, and willing to learn, with the ability to take on challenges.
• Well-organised, with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• A proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other PC applications.

Objective
Responsible for underwriting, administering, and managing an existing Industry Practices portfolio, while supporting portfolio growth through new business development under the direction of the Head of Industry Practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned renewals and handle new submissions according to established procedures
• Review and analyze all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting guidelines within assigned authority
• Communicate with producers to obtain necessary underwriting information with proactive follow-up actions
• Complete referral procedures for risks exceeding assigned authority
• Maintain satisfactory relationship with distribution channels and brokers to obtain new/targeted businesses
• Promote Chubb Industry Practices specialty coverage, products and services to the producers
• Provide assistance on underwriting / administration matters to underwriting team and managers, where necessary
