What we're looking for

Diploma or Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 4 years of application development experience, with proficiency in web development technologies such as JavaScript, React.js, and GraphQL.
2+ years of hands-on, relevant back-end development experience using Node.js.

Nice to have

Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is desired.
Experience with implementing A/B testing or E-commerce features is a plus.
Experience with AI development tools and Agentic Coding, accompanied by strong debugging skills to validate AI-generated outputs.

The role

What you'll do

Develop and maintain scalable solutions for SCMP's digital platforms, focusing on website platform features, subscriptions and web publishing applications.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (product managers, UI/UX designers, and fellow engineers) to conceptualize, build, test, and deliver impactful products.
Utilize Agentic coding and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, LLM agents) to accelerate prototyping, code generation, and testing.
Act as the human-in-the-loop to critically review, refactor, and audit AI-generated code, ensuring it meets strict performance, security, and architectural standards.
Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to architectural standards.
Participate in Agile events including daily stand-ups, sprint plannings, refinement meetings, and retrospectives.
