Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline; (ii) a strong research track record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-impact research in one or more of the above areas, commensurate with the rank sought; (iii) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and collaborative research; and (iv) the potential or proven ability to attract external research funding.
The Department of Information Engineering (IE) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in strategic research areas of importance to the Department and the University. All areas related to the department's current strengths will be considered, with preference given to: (1) optical communications and photonic systems; (2) quantum computing and quantum information technologies; and (3) wireless communications and networking systems.
The Department of Information Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is internationally recognized for its groundbreaking interdisciplinary research and translational impact in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and electrical engineering. The Department offers a dynamic research environment with strengths in artificial intelligence, communications, information theory, systems, IoT, security, and related areas. The appointee will be expected to (a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to their area of expertise; (b) establish an independent, externally funded research programme; (c) supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and (d) collaborate with faculty members within CUHK and with external partners to advance research and education in their field.
Appointment(s) will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to a longer-term appointment or substantiation.
